Ossoff Is In. The Poll Moved. Early Voting Starts Tomorrow.
A year ago, almost nobody had GA-07 on their list of races to watch. Republicans redrew this district after Rich McCormick lost to Carolyn Bourdeaux in 2020, and they built it to be safe.
This weekend showed it isn’t.
On Sunday in Roswell, Senator Jon Ossoff stood next to Tony Kozycki and told the crowd: “Tony has my full support and I am 100% behind him in this race. Let’s get it done.”
It means something for Ossoff to say that here. North Metro Atlanta is where he launched his 2017 congressional run, before the lines were redrawn around it.
The numbers are moving too. A new 20/20 Insight survey of likely voters has Tony leading McCormick 47% to 45%. In August, McCormick led 46% to 43%. That’s a five-point swing in the margin in about seven weeks.
The shift is sharpest among the voters who decide close races:
Independents went from favoring McCormick by 13 to favoring Tony by 9.
Moderates went from an even split to a 19-point Kozycki lead.
Women went from favoring McCormick by 9 to evenly divided.
And only 36% of likely voters view McCormick favorably. For an incumbent, that’s a warning light.
Tony thinks he knows why. “Rich has blown off his district,” he said. At his Roswell town hall, McCormick told frustrated constituents, “I don’t have to be here,” and walked out. He hasn’t held another public town hall since. He’s also skipped all five debates in Tony’s six-county series.
The sixth and final one is this Thursday, October 15, at 6:30 p.m. at St. James Church in Alpharetta, hosted by the North Fulton NAACP. Both candidates are invited.
“That’s a job interview,” Tony says of every election. “You don’t get to skip the interview because you think the job is already yours.”

Vote early. Early voting begins tomorrow, October 13.
Come Thursday. Fill the room in Alpharetta, whether or not McCormick shows.
